Crashing

Shimane Prefecture is not the easiest prefecture to get to, but if you get the chance, it is worth a visit. There is much to see and do. The best sights are the Matsue castle and Lake Shinji in Matsue, the Izumo Taisha shrine, and Inasa Beach in Izumo. One of my personal highlights of the region is the Hinomisake Coast. The vibrant Hinomisake Shrine contrasts nicely with the lush green pines that cover the grounds. Along the cape, waves crash against the rocks as Black Kites circle overhead. The raptors gather by the dozens on the island of Fumishima. I only spent a few days in Shimane, so I am sure there is much more to see, these places are an excellent start to a visit to Shimane.
